Day 1 Cynthialoowho Christmas Ornaments 2019

It’s that time of year again! I hope you enjoy my series this year. Day 1 is an ornament I’ve thought about many times and just never got to it. So this year I decided it will be #1.

I’ve seen diy ornaments in the past with broken cd’s but did you know if you melt the cd a

little bit it gets all sparkly? It get’s so sparkly and shimmers.

It’s so beautiful.

You will need:

For topper:

  • 20 gauge wire
  • Bead cap
  • Tear drop bead

I used 2 blank cd’s the memorex kind that have a purple hue.

Cut cd in half,

Pry apart the layers,

The cd will be thinner and easier to melt.

I used my heat gun in a well ventilated area to melt the cd a bit and did not touch the cd till it cooled completely.

Then just cut it into a bunch of tiny squares and triangles.

Now add the Liquitex to the ball in sections using a paint brush and then just place the cd pieces in the liquitex.

Once you’ve covered the ball let dry and add your topper.

  1. I only started crafting this summer, and love, love, love your YouTube videos! I needs connection to all your videos! Would be great if there was a page with a list of all your videos from day 1, when you first started. Love and guidance please.🤗

  2. Hi, I love this project!! Ordered a heat gun and a box of 100 blank cd’s which came today. I followed your directions and can not get the cd’s to come apart. I tried melting them whole and it doesn’t work as well as yours. I pulled out a couple of old cd’s from my stash and had a little better luck, but still not as good as yours. I don’t see comments on the YouTube video to see if there’s any tips or anyone else having trouble with the cd’s. Any tips would be appreciated!! Love all your ornaments!

I would love to hear from you, please leave a comment!
